So a reminder that one of the great game jams is on this year and as ususal it’s a great time of year to see if you can hack out a simple game in 7 days.
It’s always a challenge to try to get this done in a busy work week with other responsibilities but it’s also a really cool opportunity to get feedback on a game.
Yes despite my pain I finished. Basic overview:
- Pirate Roguelike (You are actually a pirate hunter)

I’ll do a short overview of the development process after I have recovered. Still in recovery after a very long week.
Great way to experiment with code begins this weekend. 7DRL is your chance to build a game in 7 days or a bit longer. I am up to my 6th attempt and given only 2 success’s I need to lift my game this year and it’s a high difficulty factor for me.

6.58 aedt (Australian eastern daylight savings time) this morning someone reached level 4 of rogue coder … They may have finished the game but in any case it is significant and whoever you are well done … level 4 has been breached for the first time!!!
It’s only taken a week – I am excited!!!
So here’s a special tip for roguecoder – when you turn the lights out you can still move but the guards don’t – a good way to avoid getting seen – you just need to organise how you will move i.e.. 10 moves south, 3 moves east for example
